Ingredients
  

  • Ground lamb or beef
  • Onion
  • Carrots
  • Peas
  • Garlic
  • Tomato paste
  • Beef or vegetable broth
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Thyme
  • Salt and pepper
  • Potatoes
  • Butter
  • Milk
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground lamb. Drain off any excess fat.
  • Add the onion, carrots, and celery to the skillet and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Sprinkle the flour over the meat and vegetables and stir to coat.
  • Gradually whisk in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
  • Season with thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper to taste.
  • Pour the meat mixture into a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Spread the mashed potatoes over the top of the meat mixture.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top of the mashed potatoes.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the mashed potatoes are golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
