Place the currants, sultanas, sugar, and tea in a large bowl. Mix well and cover with cling film. Leave to soak overnight.
Preheat the oven to 150°C/300°F/Gas Mark 2. Grease and line a 900g loaf tin with baking paper.
Stir the flour and egg into the fruit mixture until well combined. Pour the mixture into the prepared loaf tin and level the surface.
Bake in the preheated oven for 1½-2 hours, or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
Leave to cool in the tin for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
