Ingredients
  

  • Rolled oats
  • Butter
  • Golden syrup or maple syrup/honey
  • Brown sugar
  • Optional additions chocolate chips, dried fruits, nuts, etc.

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C/180°C fan/gas 6.
  • Lightly butter the baking tin and line with baking paper.
  • Place the oats, butter, sugar, and golden syrup in a large saucepan and melt over a low heat, stirring constantly until well combined.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared baking tin and spread evenly, pressing down with the back of a spoon to make sure it is compact.
  • Score the flapjacks into 12 squares with a sharp knife.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Allow the flapjacks to cool completely in the tin before cutting into squares and serving.
