Chicken Changezi Recipe

Chicken Changezi is a flavorful North Indian dish withtender chicken cooked in a rich tomato-based sauce. Marinated in aromaticspices and yogurt, it offers a delightful culinary experience. Garnished withfresh coriander, onions, and lemon, it's a must-try for Indian foodenthusiasts.

Ingredients
  

  • 500 grams bone-in chicken pieces preferably chicken thighs or drumsticks
  • 1 cup yogurt curd, whisked until smooth
  • 2 large onions finely sliced
  • 3 tomatoes finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/4 cup fresh cream
  • 2 tablespoons ghee or vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2-3 green cardamom pods
  • 1- inch cinnamon stick
  • 4-5 cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon dried fenugreek leaves kasuri methi
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • Sliced onions and lemon wedges for serving

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, combine the chicken, lemon juice, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, salt, turmeric powder, and yogurt. Mix well to coat the chicken.
  • Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
  • Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the tomatoes and cook until softened and mushy, about 10 minutes.
  • Add the marinated chicken and cook, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through, about 15 minutes.
  • Stir in the milk, cream, kasuri methi, and chaat masala. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
  • Serve hot with rice or naan.
