2 cups fresh or frozen blue raspberries you can also use regular raspberries if blue raspberries aren't available 1 cup granulated sugar adjust to taste depending on the sweetness of your berries 1 cup water 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice from about 2-3 lemons Zest from 1 lemon for added citrus aroma 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract optional, but adds depth of flavor A pinch of salt enhances the flavors
